Ciders and Wines

Visit Montgomery Orchard to try and taste our delectable selection of homemade wines and ciders. Our ciders and wines are made from apples grown right here in the farm orchard. Our cider house is open from Labor Day to Halloween on Saturdays and Sundays. Come taste our award winning plum wine.

Ciders

  • Northern Trek: It's a sparkling dry cider made with Zestar, Honeycrisp, Honeygold and Haralson apples. It is designed to have a crisp finish. The recipe uses honey to create a light sweetness.
  • Prairie Harvest: This is a highly carbonated, slightly sweet cider flavored with local honey. We used Honeycrisp, Honey gold, and Cortland, to make this a smooth and drinkable cider.
  • Maple Run: It is a zesty sparkling cider flavored with local maple syrup. It is our sweetest cider and goes down smoothly. This one can be served by itself or with food.
  • Graff:  Technically this is a cider made with 75% apple juice and 25% English Ale, fermented together.  It is light on the hops and you will find plenty of "beer" notes present.
  • Cranberry Crush:  If anything goes well with apples, the most rational fit is cranberry.  You will find this cider to be very crisp and refreshing, making it great for all seasons.

Wines

  • Plum Crazy: It is a semi sweet fruit wine made from the unique blend of Toka, Superior and Alderman Plums. The plums were frozen to extract the pure juice. 2015 was a “vintage year” for plums which created an opportunity to make a richly flavored Minnesota original.
  • South Wind: It is a semi sweet wine with a light flowery aroma. This white apple wine can be paired with many meals or enjoyed by itself or with friends.
  • Cranapple Crisp: is a balanced semi dry wine with great tartness.  Serve chilled and dress it up for dinner guests with a couple of frozen cranberries added to the glass.
  • Smokin’ Oak: This cider is designed for the wine drinker. It has been aged in oak barrels for 12 months. You could serve this cider at the dinner table with fish or chicken.
  • The Full Monty: The Full Monty is authentically prepared in the tradition of Apple Jack. To make this wine, we combine five different varieties of apples with special yeast that retains the apple flavor, yet ferments up to 19%. Hold on to your hat and enjoy the warm sweet taste of this unique liqueur.
  • The Woody: Like the Full Monty, the Woody is also made in the tradition of Apple Jack. Zestar, Honeycrisp and Haralson apples blend to make the base topped off with Chestnut Crab to give it a buttery feel. We aged this creation for 2 1/2 years in Oak barrels to create perfect satisfaction. At 23%, be sure to sip this one ever so slowly!
